Rowlux® Illusion Film & Swirl Chandeliers
The colors and patterns on this product are just mesmerizing. The film has depth and movement that made me feel like I was looking into a flame or watching a river. It's beautiful to look at and easy easy to work with! I simply cut out the oval shapes for my earrings using household scissors. I used a couple of different sized hole punches successfully, with no cracking or tearing, it all went very smoothly and left clean edges which is important if you are going to be wearing this product...which I will be.
Using the tiniest bit of Alleen's Tacky Glue I added flat back Swarovski Crystal for a little dimensional bling on the larger background turquoise ovals. Next simply punched tiny 1.5mm holes in the top of both ovals and attached them behind my swirl vine chandelier components on fish-wire earrings using a jump ring. Aren't they dreamy?! I love that the film is somewhat transparent so the way that it plays on and with light in my estimation is just one of the many fine qualities of this product! LOVE IT! Another benefit is that using the Rowlux® Illusion Film I took these components up a notch in size and noticeably factor with virtually no extra weight. This product is feather light but strong so it's perfect for making jewelry and no doubt a million other crafts!
When it came time to take pictures of my project I used the Rowlux® Illusion Film to photograph on. I have found the perfect background! So not only is my product made from the colorful film but then I could use it in production of this post! So make things out of it AND for great photos I would shoot on it too!

Helpful Hints for Crafting with Rowlux®
Adhesives: The optical effects are diminished when the product gets wet, therefore the ideal method for adhering translucent Rowlux® is with a light coating of spray mount. This works very well when you are applying flat pieces to flat surfaces. Liquid adhesives and resins will fill the lenses and diminish the optical effects.
If you wish to manipulate the material and create a stronger bond than can be accomplished with spray mount, I recommend hot glue. Just be sure to glue strategically in spots that are hidden, such as in the back or on corners, since the liquid nature of hot glue will diminish the optical effects and the glue will be visible due to the translucent nature of the material. You can always cover any areas where the glue shows and effects are diminished with a button, gem or other embellishment.
Tools: Rowlux® can easily be cut and scored with paper trimmers. Scissors, Sizzix® steel rule dies, Sizzix® embossing folders and Sizzix® Scoreboards (which cut and score) by Eileen Hull also work well. Rowlux® can be manually bent, rolled and folded and is also great for flat work.
